Ross Simonini is an artist, writer, musician and documentarian.

His first novel The Book of Formation will be published by Melville House Books on November 14 2017.

He has exhibited at the Sharjah Biennial 13, Jack Hanley Gallery, Martos Gallery, Andrew Edlin Gallery, Fredericks and Freiser, Vacancy, Human Resources, and Shoot the Lobster. See history for full list.

Simonini has served as the interviews editor at the art and literary magazine, The Believer for over a decade, where his dialogues appear monthly.He is a founder of The Organist, a podcast by KCRW and McSweeneys.

He contributes to frieze, The New York Times, Salon, Bookforum, Interview, McSweeneys and Art in America, where he is a columnist. He has written for artist monographs by Matthew Barney, Sterling Ruby, and Eddie Martinez.

He is one half of the band, NewVillager and has performed at the Brooklyn museum, the Andy Warhol Museum, MOCA, Performa, and Queens museum.

In late 2016, he served as the audio artist-in-residence for the award winning first season of SFMOMA's Raw Material podcast, for which he constructed a series audio documentaries on the subject of "art and the unknown."

He is an adjunct professor at Columbia University, where he has developed his own seminars on spoken forms of literature and experimental writing process.

He holds degrees in music, physics, and writing, from the University of California and Bennington College.

He currently lives in Northern California and New York City.
